Sexual behaviour in rural northern India

This paper tries to examine the nature and pattern of sexual behaviour among rural men in North Indian States and explore the various causative and contextual factors associated with premarital and extramarital sexual relationship. For this study, the data, Rural –Sexual Behaviour’ had been used. The current analysis includes 1759 men aged 18-40 years, Haryana (570), Rajasthan (610) and UP (579). The prevalence of masturbation, pre-marital sex or extra-marital sex among the rural men are very low in Uttar Pradesh as compared to the other two states. Logistics represents the result of two models, in Model I only age and ever had alcohol found significantly affect with premarital sex and in the Model II there are number of variables come significant with extra marital sex. Age significantly affect the extra marital sex but experiencing extramarital sex in 18-25 age group of men is more as compared to pre marital sex.
